Reviews Overview

Most Liked

Customers rave about the freshness of the seafood, often noting the light and crispy breading that enhances the flavors. The scallop tempura stands out for its tender texture and crunchy exterior, marking it as a must-try. Many patrons appreciate the generous portion sizes, especially the three-piece fish and chips, which feels like more than just three pieces. The staff’s friendly and welcoming demeanor makes dining here a pleasant experience, adding personal touches that keep locals returning. Facilitating a community atmosphere, the restaurant often attracts groups and families enjoying a day out together.

Most Disliked

Some reviews mention that the tartar sauce could be improved, with a few finding it too thin for their liking. While the restaurant does offer a wide array of sides, a few customers expressed that the fries, which are decent, could be more exciting. The limited indoor seating can feel cramped during peak hours, which may lead to a hurried dining experience. Lastly, the cleanliness is noted, but patrons must clear their own tables, which isn’t to everyone's taste. Regardless, these minor issues do not deter the restaurant from being a favored choice for many.

Got fish and chips with my dad. Got 3 fish and chips. They gave me an extra one. :) Breading: Light and crispy Fish: Good Tarter sauce was a bit too thin but it still tasted good. Fries/(chips): Alright, nothing special. Price: good.

Honestly, this spot is always a win. The fried food comes out super fresh, hot, and crispy every time — not heavy or greasy at all. I’ve even seen them bringing in fresh ingredients in the morning, which makes sense because you can really taste the quality in every bite. It feels like they actually care about what they’re serving, which I really appreciate. My favorite thing on the menu has to be the scallop tempura. The scallops were so tender and juicy, and the crunchy batter just made it perfect. Definitely a must-try if you come here. On top of that, the vibe is great because the owner and the manager are both super friendly and welcoming. It’s the kind of place that makes you wanna come back, not just for the food but for the whole experience.

My daughter and I were near the Vintage Fair Mall and decided to give London Fish & Chips a try. This restaurant is located on the corner of Standiford, Sisk & Dale roads. Seating is limited, but I would say there are approx. 5-6 tables that seat 4 patrons, and another 2-3 tables that seat 2. You order at the counter as you walk in. What impressed me first was the good variety of seafood and sides available to order: Fish, Catfish, Fried Clams, Calamari, Oysters, Prawns, and any combo of those served with Fries. Sides include Batter-dipped & deep fried Zucchini, Mushrooms, Asparagus, Onion Rings, etc. Our food was prepared to order, and was ready for us very quickly …fresh and hot. I must say, for many years I have been on the hunt for good clam strips … these were the Best Fried Clams I’ve ever had. Sweet, and good sized. The next surprise was the Calamari Strips … these are not Rings and tentacles, but appear to be from a calamari steak that has been cut into strips, batter dipped and deep fried… so tender and delicious. The coating reminds me of a tempura batter. The pieces of fish are large, and drape over the sides of the basket they are served in. The Prawns and Scallops are also surprisingly large. The fries are crispy and fresh, but if you prefer you can substitute the fries for 10 onion rings, 10 zucchini, 4 large Mushrooms (all fresh and hand made), for just $3 more. I can honestly say, I loved every menu item we tried. I’ve been back three times in the past 2 weeks, and I can’t wait to return again. (Next trip we’ll try the Asparagus, Pot Stickers, and Clam Chowder) If you’re in the mood for delicious and fresh “Fish &Chips” (and more), I highly recommend London Fish & Chips in Modesto.

I came here for the 1st time with my boyfriend. I was a little skeptical because Cod Fish isn't my favorite, but, it was DELICIOUS and 3 pieces of fish was really like 6. The prices were very fair considering how big the fish were. ( About $15 for 3 fish and chips ) It's a small place and you have to clean up after yourself ( like our mother's taught us to 🤣 ) but it was still very clean. You gotta try this place if you want GREAT FISH AND CHIPS

I'm always skeptical of seafood places far from the coast. Since I've moved to Tracy from the Bay, I've been on a hunt for a good fish and chips place and this is the spot. From the outside I peeped into the kitchen and noticed the floor was clean and although the place looks outdated, it doesn't matter. The service is fantastic and my family had a lovely experience. I was planning on writing this review the same day but I always look forward to tasting the food cold. I believe food should taste fantastic hot or cold. Sure enough, the portions were perfect enough to have lots of leftovers. We made sandwiches with the leftover and it saved my from being behind my stove. Definitely a place to stop and dine. While you're there, get the fried mushrooms and hush puppies.Don't rush to eat the mushrooms because they store alot of steam. But delicious!

This is an classic oldy kind of place for those who lived on London Fish and Chips as a former Catholic. Delicious batter that is not soggy, but fried perfectly for a gentle crisp cider that doesn't leave you full as most fried foods can do. I love this place! It's going to be my new go-to fish food place. Friendly staff who great you and your little ones with a lollipop. Yummy!
